BERITAMediacorp and DETIK Celebrate Hari Raya with MWH
On 13 June 2019, the residents of the Home had a wonderful time when the staff from Mediacorp Malay News and Current Affairs Unit had their CSR with the Home and celebrated Hari Raya with our boys and staff.
The evening of meaningful conversations, delicious food, entertaining games and great prizes ended with a beautiful session of playing with ‘bunga api’. The session was graced with the presence of Mr Amrin Amin, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Health.
We would like to thank BERITAMediacorp and DETIK for bringing smiles, joy and the spirit of Hari Raya to the children and youths in MWH.

MWH Iftar 1440H
Like every other years, MWH has once again been privileged to share the blessings of Ramadan by hosting an iftar session for the residents and families on the 17th May 2019. Gracing this meaningful iftar session was Mr Amrin Amin, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Health.
As the Maghrib prayer calling was made by our very own resident whom is also the azan competition winner, our residents and their families along with the Home’s supporters and volunteers broke their fast in the Home’s multi-purpose hall while continuing to share the spirit of togetherness and fostering closer bonds with one another.
During this iftar session, 13 of our residents were awarded with certificates for taking up the ‘Khatam Quran’ challenge. We were also delighted to have Aaron Aziz, a local celebrity, to give away prizes to 3 winners of an essay competition based on ‘Dadah Itu Haram’ theme.
Welfare Fiesta 2018
MWH opened its doors to welcome our supporters, community partners, friends and families to our family and charity carnival, Welfare Fiesta on 10 November 2018. This year, the event was graced by Guest of
Honor, Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Social & Family Development and Ministry of Education.
A special segment ‘Cherishing Families, Celebrating The Elderly’ was curated for family of the residents, our friends from various Malay Muslim Organizations and the elderly from THK SAC, Lions Befrienders and Muhammadiyah Health & Day Care Centre. There were many takeaways from the family forum during this segment. Not just that, they also wore happy
smiles upon receiving goodie bags that were specially prepared for them.
Our carnival goers have enjoyed an array of stalls selling apparels and food such as kebab, traditional malay kuehs and takoyaki set up by local vendors whom are also the Home’s supporters. The carnival’s spirit was uplifted by exciting performances such as the banghra dance by Jigri Yaar, a magic show by Mystifying Imran, a quick freestyle soccer tricks and moves with Young Lions as well as a dikir barat and acoustic performance by our very own residents.We were thrilled to have a special celebrity appearance by Aaron Aziz, influencer of Dadah Itu Haram, sharing with us his experiences and the
importance of family and kinship to prevent substance abuse.

MWH Hari Raya Gathering 2018
On 13 July 2018, Muhammadiyah Welfare Home marked the end of Syawal by organising a Hari Raya Gathering for our residents and their families. The event was made even more special with the presence of Mr Amrin Amin, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Health as the Guest of Honour along with other MWH’s supporters and volunteers.
To celebrate this festive mood, our guests enjoyed an acoustic performance by our residents serenading Hari Raya songs. There were also fun quizzes and meaningful family-friendly games that the guests could take part in and interact with one another.
As Syawal is also a month of fostering and strengthening kinship, the Home showed its appreciation to our partners who have continuously supported the Home in their own special way and sponsors for this event such as Catering Culture Pte Ltd and G2 Productions.
MWH Residents’ Day 2018
To commemorate our residents’ achievements and outstanding performances, MWH organised our annual Residents’ Day Celebration on 19 January 2018 with the presence of Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Social and Family Development and Ministry of Education, Associate Professor Faishal Ibrahim as the Guest of Honor. The event showcased an exciting skit on the legend of ‘Hang Tuah’, which was performed by our own residents in collaboration with students from Temasek Polytechnic.
To acknowledge and recognise our residents’ hardwork and efforts, awards such as Best Qur’an Reader, Most Improved in Academic, Best Sportsman and Commendable Progress were given out during the event.

MWH Iftar Ramadan 1439H
On the blessed 2nd day of Ramadan, 18th May 2018, MWH hosted a break fast session, Iftar for residents of MWH and their families. Held at the Home’s multi-purpose hall, this meaningful event was graced with the presence of Mr Saktiandi Supaat, MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Besides creating beautiful bond between the residents and their family members, we were joined by supporters and volunteers of the Home. Our Home took the opportunity to congratulate our long term supporters, Ms Wan Noor Tutiana and Dr Goh Wei Leong for their valuable contribution towards our Home. We would also like to thank volunteers from NTU for their help and effort to make this iftar a smooth and successful one.
MWH Charity Corporate and Youth Futsal Tournament 2018
MWH is privileged to have Mr Saktiandi Supaat, MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC as the Guest of Honour during its signature Charity Corporate and Youth Futsal Tournament 2018.
Held on 3rd March 2018 at Kovan Sports Centre, the event saw a total participation of 28 teams in the youth category (U14 & U16). These teams include mainstream secondary schools such as Hong Kah, Manjusri, Bedok Green, Regent and Bowen, madrasah such as Wak Tanjong Al-Islamiah and youth groups such as Hope Centre and Fityah MKS. It was an amazing and thrilling tournament and the teams from Madrasah Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah and Kardeslar Junior A emerged as champions in the U14 and U16 categories respectively.
In the corporate category, MWH is grateful for the support from corporation and organisations such as JTC, TSMP Law Corporation, Woh Hup (Private) Limited, SCDF, Scan-Bilt Pte Ltd and One Heart BS. We congratulate everyone and also the team from HDB for clinching the top spot (Corporate Category) in their first appearance in this tournament.

Lendlease’s Community Day with MWH
MWH was fortunate to have Lendlease celebrating its Community Day with our residents on the 5th of October, 2017. Lendlease’s volunteers added colours to our home by painting one of the activity rooms, did area cleaning and ended the day by organizing an outdoor barbecue session with our residents and staff. As a token of appreciation, MWH gifted a painting specially done by our residents to Lendlease that was received by Lendlease’s Asia CEO, Mr Tony Lombrado. We would like to thank Lendlease and its volunteers for the very meaningful day.

McDonald’s East Zone Community Day in MWH
Bringing joy to MWH, McDonald’s East Zone staff came down to our home and sponsored our residents with a scrumptious McDonald’s breakfast on Saturday, 27th of October 2017 in celebration of McDonald’s East Zone Community Day. They have also put together a few game booths such as Jigsaw Puzzle, Bottle Flip Challenge and Cup Stacking for our residents to have fun and enjoy. MWH thank McDonald’s East Zone for this kind gesture that has definitely brought smiles to our residents.

Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College visits MWH
With open arms, MWH once again welcomed the officers from Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College (GKSCSC) on the 17th of October 2017. The GKSCSC officers joined our residents on a fun game of frisbee and afterwards get up close and personal with them to share and exchange their experiences on the bitter sweet of life. We welcomed Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College to MWH.

MWH Charity Corporate and Youth Futsal Tournament 2017
As a part of MWH annual event, the Charity Corporate and Youth Futsal Tournament 2017 was held at Kovan Sports Hub on Saturday,11 March 2017 and was graced with the presence of Mr Amrin Amin, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs. This year, MWH celebrated the event with the highest participation since the tournament was introduced 10 years ago with a total number of 32 youth teams consist of participation from local schools, madrasah, youth groups and international schools such as NPS International and An Nahl (Jakarta) as well as 8 corporate teams including SCDF (Champions for 2017), Woh Hup Private Limited, TSMP Law Corporation and Carl Ziess. Each corporate team consisted of 6 representatives from the corporations and 2 boys from MWH.

MWH celebrates Residents’ Day 2017 with Minister Tan Chuan-Jin
Held on 20th January 2017, Residents’ Day is a day of acknowledgement and celebration of the children and youth’s achievement in education, sports and character building. We are pleased to have the presence of Minister Tan Chuan-Jin from the Ministry of Social and Family Development as the Guest of Honour, together with families, educators and volunteers of the Home. We would also like to express our gratitude to Kaki Bukit Community Centre and Lagun Sari for the generous venue and food sponsorship respectively.
